Avoid seeing the last open tabs when starting Chrome

These present us with a huge number of built-in features that only improve these programs and our experience with them. Let’s not forget that we are talking about software solutions that we have in operation a good part of the time we are in front of the PC. And it is that today these serve us to play, work, watch movies, make videoconferences, etc.

It is also for all this reason that, to a large extent, we must try to personalize and adapt its operation to our needs. In fact, this is the case that we are going to talk about in these same lines. Specifically, we refer to the way in which we are going to start the most used browser in the world. This is none other than Google Chrome, the program of this type preferred by the majority and that does not stop growing. All this despite the many criticisms it receives regarding its operation and privacy, for example.

Well, as possibly many of you already know, when we open Google Chrome, the usual thing is that we receive a new tab or a home page. However, it’s not always like that.

Avoid starting Chrome with the latest tabs

We tell you this because on some occasions we can find that suddenly a lot of tabs are opened at random in principle. But in reality this is not the case, as these correspond to the random tabs from the previous session. By this we mean the tabs that were open the last time we used Chrome, and we close it at the end of the session.

This could even be considered as a program failure, or a huge lack of privacy. More if there are several people who use this same computer with the Google browser installed. For all this we could say that things do not work well when the same contents closed before, continue to open every time we run Chrome. Well, the first thing we need to know here is that we have the ability to change this. Actually we can stop the start of old tabs when running Chrome in a simple way.

And it is that the fact that the old eyelashes from the previous session automatically when starting the browser, it has been a problem for a long time. It is true that with the Chrome updates, Google seems to have fixed these things. But with everything and that, this is a problem keeps popping up from time to time. Fortunately there are a number of fixes that can help resolve this.

Open Chrome with the new tab page

In case you didn’t know, the Chrome browser has a built-in option that allows you to continue the previous browsing session exactly from where we left it. We may have accidentally activated this feature, so let’s see how to remove it and get everything back to normal. For this we have to open the main menul from Chrome through the button in the upper right corner. Here we click on the Settings menu option.

Thus, on the screen of Setting we scroll down until we locate the section called When Open. This is where we have to be attentive to the option to Open all as it was before closing. In the event that we see this marked, that is where the problem we are facing is. Therefore, we only have to check the option Open the New Tab page to solve it.

open new tab

Of course, in this same section we also have the possibility of open a page specific, like a search engine, every time we run the program. This is one of the most common choices at the moment, or even choose to open a set of pages in one go.

Disable Chrome in the background

This that we comment with the tabs of the previous session, it may not be solved with this only change that we just showed you. And it is that on the other hand we must bear in mind that on certain occasions, Chrome does not turn off completely when we exit the program and close it, or at least we think so. We may have noticed this on some occasions. The main reason for this is that, despite having closed the program as such, we continue to receive notifications in the system tray.

These generally refer to certain websites that we visit at some point, or to installed extensions, all even when Chrome appears as closed. Also, this functionality has the ability to make the old tabs load automatically at the start of the program again. Therefore we are going to solve it as we did in the previous case.

At this point, we have to load the section of Chrome settings, as we saw before, from its main menu. Now we go back to scroll down and click on the Advanced Settings section. Here what we have to do is locate a section called System, where we have what we are looking for in this case.

disable chrome second

All we have to do here is turn off the selector next to Keep running background apps when close Google Chrome. Then we restart the program as such so that the changes take effect. In this way, by deactivating these two options that we have just shown you, the problem should be solved. This means that the old tabs will no longer open when the Internet browser is started again.

In addition, we have also learned the easiest way to customize this same section. That is, how to get the Google browser to show us the page or pages that we really want to find each time we open or start a new session with the program.
